Are you a social worker, teacher or health worker? If so, you may be called upon to give evidence about children or vulnerable adults whom you work with in court.

Our Introduction to Court Work training course will give you the knowledge and confidence about the court process.

Introduction to court work: One-day training course

Aimed at social workers, teachers and health workers, this one-day training course will give you a broad understanding of the court system and local authority processes. It will take you through each stage for cases involving children and vulnerable adults, explaining how decisions are made and what your role and obligations are.

Our one-day ‘Introduction to Court Work’ training course aims to:

  • Give an overview of the court process
  • Help you understand the local authority process to proceedings
  • Cover the court process to a final decision
  • Understand your role as a professional in court

It covers topics such as:

  • What steps a social worker will take after referral and initial assessment
  • The local authority safeguarding process
  • The order and objectives of the different hearings
  • All relevant documents required – and when they need to be submitted
  • How to write and deliver expert reports in court, including what your statement should contain
  • Court ettiquette

The course costs £350 per person and includes materials and lunch.

It will take you through each stage for cases involving children and vulnerable adults, explaining how decisions are made and what your role and obligations are.

Our one-day training course aims to:

  • Give an overview of the court process under the PLO 2014
  • Explain the local authority process to proceedings under the PLO 2014 and it’s impact
  • Cover the court process to a final decision through each stage of the PLO 2014

It covers topics such as:

  • The steps a Local Authority must take before issuing proceedings
  • The stages of the PLO
  • The order and objectives of the different hearings
  • The impact of the PLO on professionals

The course costs £350 per person and includes materials and lunch.
